Recap
Council-enforced closures this weekend of Sunshine Coast playing fields included the Mudjimba baseball diamonds. Anyone who took part in the 2017 Summer and Spring seasons is probably already aware that it takes more than rain to stop us from playing ball! So we relocated to beautiful Mudjimba beach for the Sunshine Coast’s first ever Sandball tournament. It was a great morning with heaps of fun and even a little sun in between summer showers.
T-Ball & Little League
T-ball and Little League players joined forces to take on their parents (and Andrew). While there was some concern voiced about the potential for second base to float out to Old Woman Island, one Little Leaguer remarked, “We’re playing baseball on the beach. How boss is that!”. We’re pretty sure that “boss” is a good result.
Senior League
A disappointing turnout by the Sharks left their coach with no choice but to forfeit. The Marlins were able to field a team thanks to the timely return of Dave “Lucky Charms” Fraser. It’s great to have Dave back in the Marlins’ squad. As the Sunshine Coast Baseball Club’s resident switch (team) hitter, we expect that Dave will also rack up a few wins with the Sharks before the Summer Season ends.
The real winner today was Sandball. Everyone who took part today is keen to see Sandball at Mudjimba beach being played again.
Weather permitting of course.
